Meet The Leaders

Kameela Baagil - Team Captain

Kameela joined the team in 2017 as sophomore. She is now a Senior at Klein Oak and the Team Captain for the 2019-2020 season. She was previously the Scouting & Strategy Captain. Kameela joined the team because of her interest in STEM and the team. She is also a member of French National Honor Society, English National Honor Society, National Honor Society, Society of Women Engineers and Mu Alpha Theta.

Kimberly Wang - Business Lead/Public Relations

Kim joined the team her sophomore year in 2017, starting on the media team because of her passion for taking pictures and editing. Kim is currently a senior in the International Baccalaureate program at Klein Oak HS. She is taking the responsibility of both Business Lead and Public Relations Lead for the team this year handling all the social media and communication database for the team. In addition to being in robotics, Kim has a passion for music as a contemporary dancer, violinist, and guitarist. She is also a part of Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Science Club and the Society of Women Engineers.

Alea Nablan - Chairman’s Lead

Alea joined the team during her sophomore year, at first, because her brother joined, but then gradually made more friends and started to really enjoy it. During her first year, she started in the media team because she enjoyed taking pictures and eventually became interested in Chairman's with Samantha. After last year, she was able to become the team's Chairman's lead. She is now a senior in the IB Program at Klein Oak High school. Outside of robotics, she plays the violin in her school's chamber orchestra, and is a member of Tri-M.

Shruthi Anish - Sponsorship Lead

Abhi is a student at Klein Cain pursuing engineering. He joined the team in the 2018 season because he had a strong interest in STEM.

Eman Momin - Community Outreach Lead

Eman joined the team during her freshman year. She was open to discovering new clubs and organization and make new friends, and VorTX 3735 caught her attention. At the first meeting for freshman, Eman and her dad were sure that this team is something special. Eman worked in the electrical subsystem and explored other subsystems such as business and outreach. During her sophomore year, she became the outreach lead.

Christopher del Pozo - Scouting/Strategy

Christopher joined the team as a freshman in 2017.  He is now a Junior at Klein High and is the Scouting/Strategy Captain for the team.  Christopher enjoys the unique challenges of each year’s competitions and is proud to be a part of the VorTX team.  He hopes to one day have a career in aerospace engineering.

Trey Rodgers - Safety Captain

Abhiram Nunna - Robot Lead

Abhi is a student at Klein Cain pursuing engineering. He joined the team in the 2018 season because he had a strong interest in STEM.

Thejas Davalath - Mechanical Lead

Thejas joined the team in 2016. He is now a junior in the IB program at Klein Oak and a subsystem lead for the 2018-19 school year. During competitions, Thejas is an active participant in the up-keeping of the robot whenever problems arise. He joined the team because of his inept interest in robotics and engineering. Thejas is also a member of the Math National Society, Zeta Omicron (Computer Science National Honor Society), and National Science Honor Society.

Maria Zelaya - Electrical + Pneumatic Lead

Maria is a junior at Klein Oak in the International Baccalaureate program. She is the Electrical Lead on VorTX, Maria joined the team in 2017 as a freshman hoping to learn more to help with her future career plan of being an electrical engineer.

Will Tomshe - CAD Lead

Will joined the team in 2017 and is now the CAD lead. Will joined the team because he is interested in engineering and joining this team seemed the best way to get involved and learn. Will goes to Klein Cain and is currently a senior. He also plays the viola in the chamber orchestra for his school and competes in TSA and SKILLS USA.

Vinh Nguyen - Programming Lead

Vinh joined the team in 2017 as a freshman. He is now a junior in the International Baccalaureate program at Klein Oak HS. For Vinh, robotics is the place where one can connect theoretical knowledge with its applications. Not only does FIRST give him opportunities to learn things that he would not be able to elsewhere, it also gives him a group of wonderful friends. Outside of robotics, Vinh is the Klein Oak’s Zeta Omicron Historian and Mu Alpha Theta’s Treasurer. He is also an active member of the school’s competitive math team.
